Summary
Deliver Us The Moon is a Sci-Fi thriller set in an apocalyptic near future, where Earth's natural resources are depleted. A lone astronaut is sent to the moon on a critical mission to save humanity from extinction.
Characters
The characters for this game are fairly well-developed. Isaac was a little unsure, us kind of wondering what he'll choose to do. Rosa was the voice of reason no one listened to. McArthur was so obviously a tyrant that needed to be overthrown. Too bad we didn’t get to see it in this one. Sarah was a victim of circumstance and did the best she could given her situation. My fave, of course, was the playable character who (spoiler?) is actually Rolf, Sarah’s old partner (potential LI?) and who had to leave her behind.
Atmosphere
Uneasy. An abandoned station, and abandoned colony. There is mystery as you try to figure out exactly what happened to the colonists and the energy we were getting from the moon.
Game Mechanics/Gameplay
Overall it plays and handles well. The zero-G sections are a bit disorienting and there was a puzzle or two that I struggled with, but since the game is so story-based and the intrigue is strong, it helps you push past it to continue. Except the very last one where you redirect the energy to Earth. I had to do it so many times, it neatly ruined the emotion of the ending because I was so agitated.
Plot
I like that you’re investigating the blackout. You discover the story bit by bit until you discern the horrible thing McArthur did and how he forced people to leave even if they didn’t want to. Also, parallel to this, you discover what happened to Sarah who was sent to investigate first and wound up left behind. We also get a glimpse of Isaac and his role in everything.
Intrigue
Plenty of mystery here. What happened to the MPT? The colonists? Sarah? Some questions don’t get answered until the sequel.
Logic
Science! Technology! SPACE!! All makes sense within their realm, even the ‘future-tech’.
Enjoyment
Overall I enjoyed this game very much. It even made me tear up at the end. Very good storytelling using text logs and holograms. This was a replay, but I remember really liking it the first time, too. I was so excited when I learned about the sequel.
Would I Recommend?
Yes! If you don’t like combat games or are looking for more of a story-based, semi-puzzle game, this is great! Also, SPACE!
